Gladiators vs. Checkers Game 1 Kelly Cup Playoffs. (LINK)

The Gwinnett Gladiators took a 1-0 lead in the best of five series against the Charlotte Checkers. Gwinnett got goals from four different skaters as they controlled the game from start to finish before a crowd of 3,522 at the Gwinnett Arena.
Charlotte out shot Gwinnett 15-11 in the first period but couldn't put the puck in the net and trailed by one at the first intermission. Matt Anderson's goal at 17:59 put the Gladiators in the lead. Gwinnett added two more goals in the 2nd period with Tomas Pospisil and Brad Schell finding the net. Gwinnett's Mike Hamilton ended the night's scoring at the 4:51 mark in the final period to seal the victory.
Gwinnett was the aggressor most of the night out shooting Charlotte 36-27. Both clubs had six power play opportunities with Gwinnett converting on one while keeping the Checkers scoreless. This was only the third time this season the Gladiators have held their opponent scoreless.
The all important game two of the best of five series will be Thursday night at the Gwinnett Arena in Duluth. The puck drops at 7:05 PM.
The series moves to Charlotte for game three and if necessary, game four. If a fifth and deciding game is necessary, it would be played at the Gwinnett Arena next Tuesday April 15.
